The 2nd Lakes Chilli Fest will be held on the 15th & 16th August 2009, watch this space for information.
The first ever Chilli Fest in the north of England was held at Levens Hall on the 16th and 17th August 2008 10am - 4pm. The growing popularity of hot food together with the ever-growing range of chilli products now available has prompted this entertaining weekend which is already attracting chilli aficionados and stall holders from all over the country. The brave may like to try the hottest chillis around whilst on sale will be jams, jellies, chocolate, sauces, seeds, powders, chutneys and many other chilli-related gift items. Other added attractions over the weekend will be local food producers going ‘hot’ for the occasion, salsa music and dancing, cookery demonstrations and children’s activities. Elizabethan Levens Hall will provide the backdrop for The Chilli Fest and visitors will be able to walk in the world-famous topiary garden. The summer bedding and herbaceous borders will be at their very best at this time of year. The Head Gardener, Chris Crowder, is growing a wide variety of chilli plants which will be for sale, and the Potting Shed gift shop will stock many other chilli-related items throughout the season.
